1909-05-25 (145lbs) Mike Twin Sullivan drew 20 Kyle Whitney, Mission AC, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Eddie Hanlon. With both men inside 145lbs, Sullivan successfully defended his claim at the weight when given a share of the verdict. It was reported that every session was like the previous one, with Whitney leading and Sullivan countering before falling into a clinch. After 16 rounds it appeared that Sullivan had the points over the cautious Whitney, but the latter came with a spurt in the 17th round to even things up a bit and a knockdown over his tired rival in the 19th got him the draw.
