1910-03-07 (118lbs) Joe Bowker w rtd 8 (20) Jean Audouy, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Billed for the European 118lbs bantamweight title, Bowker ultimately proved far too clever for the Frenchman. Having taken a couple of rounds to evaluate his man, after Bowker began to open up in the third with solid left uppercuts the difference in class was noticeable. While Audouy had initially showed himself to be a neat and tidy boxer he had no answer when coming under attack from both hands, and it came as no surprise when he was retired at the end of the eighth.
With Bowker now having a legitimate claim to the world championship at the weight his next contest would see him meet Digger Stanley in a fight that would decide the British, European and world titles.
