1910-05-30 (133lbs) Freddie Welsh drew 20 Packey McFarland, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Tom Scott. Although not billed as such it was regarded as a 133lbs world title fight by the British newspapers and also surprising was the fact that the match was made at 133lbs (the American limit) and not 135lbs as stipulated for British championship matches. Regardless, McFarland made a great showing and there were many who thought he was badly treated when it came to the decision as he had done the majority of the leading. It had been a very fast contest between skilled practitioners with not too much incident, the pair having met twice previously.
