1911-01-09 Bill Kyne w pts 20 Bert Moughton, St James’ Hall, Newcastle, England. Billed for the British 112lbs title, it was stated to be one of the greatest bouts seen at the venue. Kyne (111) was down in the fifth round for ‘seven’ and took a short count in the ninth before coming back strongly to pick up the verdict. According to press reports a draw would have been fairer to Moughton (112), but Kyne’s terrific left-hand work caught the eye.
