1911-03-21 (158lbs) Hugo Kelly w pts 12 Bill McKinnon, Armory AA, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. With Kelly and McKinnon articled to make 158lbs ringside, the Boston Post confirmed that this was a defence of the former’s title claim at the weight. Although McKinnon tried his hardest it was one-sided as Kelly controlled the action for at least ten of the 12 rounds, despite being badly hurt by a couple of chance blows. With Kelly countering McKinnon’s leads, for several sessions the latter was almost in use as a punchbag but he took his punishment gamely and made the title claimant work hard for his win.
