1911-03-31 (122lbs) Abe Attell nd-1 pts 10 Frankie Burns, National AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Although the fight was made at 118lbs, with both men inside the weight Attell’s 122lbs title claim was on the line, and when the champion’s left shoulder became dislocated early on things looked bad for him. Having received the injury two months earlier he should have rested up more, and by the sixth round with his arm hanging by his side Burns battered him at will for the next three sessions. However, with Burns having almost worn himself out Attell dropped him with rights in the ninth and tenth to stage a grandstand finish.
