1911-11-09 (142lbs) Dixie Kid w co 2 (20) Johnny Summers, The Stadium, Liverpool, England. Referee: Eugene Corri. Billed for the world title at 142lbs, which the Dixie Kid still claimed, both men were announced as being inside the weight and with Harry Lewis now perceived to be a middleweight the Kid was generally recognised in Britain as champion. Summers made a great start in the opening session, while the Kid was effectively having a good look at his opponent, and in the second he went after the latter as if to finish him off. Unfortunately for Summers the Kid came out firing in the second and after he had coaxed his rival into an attempted counter, a short, sharp right to the angle of the jaw put the Englishman for the full count.
