1911-12-23 (122lbs) Johnny Kilbane nd-w pts 12 Charley White, Gray’s Armory, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Made at 122lbs, with both men weighing in five hours before the contest took place and despite having already signed to meet Abe Attell, Kilbane risked his title claim. There was no need to worry as Kilbane outfought White throughout, keeping him at distance and having him groggy during the final three sessions. White was reported to have landed just six clean blows during the 12 rounds and only when he managed to get to close quarters did he bother Kilbane.
