1912-02-22 (158lbs) Frank Klaus w pts 20 Sailor Ed Petroskey, Auditorium Pavilion, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Jack Welch. Occasionally listed as a title fight it was merely part of a 158lbs elimination series, but Klaus was claiming the title after his victory in what was a tough one. Ripping into Petroskey from the opening bell, Klaus hit the Sailor with all he had but to no avail, and although it was nearly all one way he could not drop his man, being booed for roughing it up. It was an easy win for Klaus, who claimed that he had hurt both hands early on and that had restricted his plan of action.
