1912-03-07 (158lbs) Jack Dillon w pts 10 Walter Coffey, Piedmont Pavilion, Oakland, California, USA. Referee: Toby Irwin. Made at 158lbs according to the Oakland Tribune, Dillon again defended his title claim at the weight against sub-standard opposition in Coffey. An easy winner, Dillon disappointed when he had Coffey hanging on round after round, and despite throwing plenty of leather he was unable to finish him off. It was poor entertainment for the crowd who thought that Coffey should have been despatched early, but although Dillon showed plenty of science he lacked the power to floor his rival, let alone kayo him.
