1912-05-29 (142lbs) Ray Bronson nd-l pts 10 Packey McFarland, Washington Park, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Referee: Dan Smith. With both men inside 138lbs, this was effectively a defence of Bronson’s 142lbs title claim and with the fight going the distance the latter held on to his honours despite McFarland just about getting the ‘press verdict. It was very close and with McFarland using a superb left lead and all-round skills to advantage and Bronson looking to get inside it made for an excellent match. There were no knockdowns incurred unless you count Bronson going to the floor and bouncing up like a rubber ball in the third round, and there was never much between them.
