23 June (118lbs) Charles Ledoux w co 7 (20) Digger Stanley, General Storage Centre, Dieppe, France. Referee: M. Mones. Billed for the European title and carrying Stanley’s 118lbs world title claim, he appeared to be well in front after six rounds, having rammed many solid lefts into Ledoux’s face before getting caught up in a punch-up. Bearing in mind that Ledoux’s forte was body punching this seemed a strange thing for Stanley to be doing, and as it turned out it was a disastrous move for him. Within a few seconds the tide had turned. With the pair swapping blows, the fight came to an abrupt end following two rights from the Frenchman, one to the body and the other to the jaw, when Stanley was dropped heavily and counted out.
