1912-09-02 (142lbs) Ray Bronson nd-drew 10 Wildcat Ferns, Virginia Avenue Auditorium, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The Indianapolis Star reported that both men made the required 142lbs and that Bronson’s title claim was once again at stake. It was nearly all over in the first round after Bronson was dropped for ‘nine’ by a tremendous right to the jaw, but on getting up in a daze he showed his class with dazzling footwork keeping him out of harm's way until the bell. In the third Bronson was again downed by a right to the chin, but after that he stuck with his boxing when allowing Ferns to throw his right again and again while making him miss and sticking in the left jab. Ferns was always dangerous with the right, and although taking too much punishment when trying to set Bronson up he was given the press draw on account of the knockdowns rather than his boxing.
