1912-11-20 (118lbs) Charles Ledoux nd-w pts 10 Battling Reddy, Fairmont AC, Bronx, NYC, New York, USA. Although not billed for the title, Ledoux (117½) risked his 118lbs championship claim by allowing Reddy to make 116lbs. The fight itself saw Reddy easily survive the rushes of the crude Frenchman, who showed a heavy punch in either hand when landing but lacked the accuracy to bring matters to a halt. Fighting like a hurricane, it was obvious that Ledoux’s ‘wear-em-down’ style was best suited to the longer distance.
A short-distance fight at the National AC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 11 December 1912 saw Ledoux risk his title when meeting Kid Williams; both men weighing in at 114lbs at the 6pm weigh-in. Williams, who took the six-round press decision, would get his chance the following year.
