1912-11-28 (133lbs) Willie Ritchie w disq 16 (20) Ad Wolgast, Mission Street Arena, Colma, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Jim Griffin. Billed for the world 133lbs championship, most press reports stated that Wolgast had shaded the first nine rounds but was beginning to tire, while the challenger, despite his right eye being closed by the ninth and having been badly hurt on several occasions, had come right back into it. In the tenth Ritchie blasted Wolgast with the right hand without return, and by the 15th he was getting on top. The 16th turned out to be the last session. Having swung the right from the bell, Ritchie soon had Wolgast tottering before dropping him with another right to the jaw. Up at the count of ‘four’ and sent stumbling into the ropes, Wolgast brought his left up from his side to hit Ritchie low. Hellbent on leaving the fight, when told by the referee to cut it out Wolgast immediately did it again in order to be disqualified.
