According to the ''Kansas City Star'' both men made the prescribed 145lbs and following the result Brewer’s title claim at the weight rested with Ferns. The aggressor throughout, Ferns had the advantage in every round except the first when honours were even and although there were no knockdowns, Brewer was in trouble in the second and last two sessions before making it to the final bell.
