1913-03-18 (145lbs) [[Wildcat Ferns]] drew 10 [[Jimmy Perry]], Orpheum Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Billed as one of a series of eliminators to decide the 145lbs title, Ferns put his claim on the line and although he had Perry down in the second round it was a relatively tame affair with few good blows landed. Ferns was the better boxer of the pair, piling up points with left jabs, but because he lacked venom in his fists Perry was able stay in the fight. There were no knockdowns and neither was badly hurt.
