1913-05-05 (145lbs) Wildcat Ferns w pts 10 Jimmy Perry, Labor Temple Auditorium, Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Referee: Billy Tissue. According to the Kansas City Star both men made the prescribed 145lbs, with Ferns holding on to his title claim at the weight after a very poor fight. It was only in three rounds that there was any live action, the rest of the mill being decidedly poor as both men missed with wild swings and lacked judgement. Ferns took the referee’s decision on account of him landing more often and more effectively than Perry, who was badly hurt in the ninth by head punches and finished the session hanging on to the ropes for support.
