1913-08-02 (158lbs) Jimmy Clabby drew 12 Freddie Hicks, Holland Rink, Butte, Montana, USA. Referee: Tosh McIntosh. The Anaconda Standard inferred that this involved Clabby’s title claim when it stated that Clabby made 154lbs, while Hicks was inside the stipulated 158lbs. In the sixth round the referee asked for more action as nothing much had happened up to that point, but regardless of his action the boys continued to come together. There were those who thought that Clabby carried Hicks, who was known to be his friend, and the referee had thought about calling the fight off, declaring it to be a no-contest, but after discussing the situation with the Commissioner a draw was decided on.
