1914-02-07 (160lbs) Eddie McGoorty w pts 20 Pat Bradley, Baker’s Stadium, Sydney, Australia. Referee: Arthur Scott. Billed for the Australian version of the middleweight title, with McGoorty (158) defending, the challenger was not given much chance against a man who stood taller and outreached him by a considerable amount. Regardless of that, Bradley (158) proved to be a difficult man to dislodge, more than bothering McGoorty with his swings and smothering tactics. Several times during the contest McGoorty was caught by solid blows to the head that forced him to step cautiously, but he was well ahead by the three-quarter mark. While there was always the chance that Bradley might get lucky, especially in the 17th when he had a tiring McGoorty almost off his feet, he was given no further opportunities as the American boxed his way out of trouble to take the referee’s decision.
