1914-03-12 Willie Ritchie nd-w pts 10 Ad Wolgast, Brewery City Auditorium, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - USA/IBU. Referee: Harry Stout. Articled to make 135lbs at 3pm on the day of the contest, it was reported to be as rough a fight as you would wish to see, with Wolgast (134½) more than happy to use his head and swing low. Prior to the sixth round it was relatively even, but after that Ritchie (135) began to pull away despite having problems dealing with Wolgast’s turtle-shaped defence. Dropped to his knees by a right-hand blow to the stomach in the seventh, with Wolgast looking for the foul when it was not forthcoming he charged into Ritchie, going low on several occasions. Wolgast repeated this tactic several times more, but Ritchie, who was now on top, was well worth the press decision at the end of the contest.
