1914-08-12 Sam Langford nd-w pts 10 Battling Jim Johnson, Stadium AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Outfighting Johnson in at least seven rounds, making the body his target, Langford was far too good for the heavier man despite being much smaller. Having taken terrific punishment to the body throughout, Johnson continued to come forward and in the eighth hammered in several heavy rights to the jaw. It might have slowed Langford somewhat, but he was soon back in charge during the final two sessions as Johnson slowed. Johnson made the mistake of not using his long left jab and generally failed to take advantage of openings when they appeared.
