1914-09-30 (158lbs) George Chip w co 4 (20) Billy Murray, Mission Street Arena, Colma, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Jim Griffin. Made at 158lbs, with both men inside, Chip successfully defended his claim at the weight when knocking Murray out inside four rounds. Although Murray looked comfortable when fighting at range for the opening couple of rounds he could not resist a tear-up in the third, but found he could not make much of an impression on the teak-tough Chip. After about a minute of the fourth had elapsed, Chip battered down Murray’s defences with heavy lefts and rights and following a clinch he missed with a right before crashing in a left to the point that sent Murray down for the count.
