1915-01-12 (142lbs) Kid Graves nd-w pts 10 Johnny Kid Alberts, Knickerbocker AC, Germania Hall, Albany, New York, USA. Both men made the required 142lbs according to the Albany Evening Journal. The fight report in the Albany Times Union stated that as entertainment it was disappointing. However, in terms of ability Graves totally outclassed Alberts, who apart from a burst of punching in the seventh failed to take any risks whatsoever. There were no knockdowns, and as far as the paper was concerned Graves won six rounds with the other four being seen as even. Graves showed himself to be a clever operator as well as a two-fisted one, tying up Alberts on the inside as and when needed while controlling the contest from start to finish.
