1915-02-20 (160lbs) Jeff Smith w pts 20 Mick King, West Melbourne Stadium, Melbourne, Australia. Referee: Victor Newhouse. Meeting King (156½) for the third time, Smith (158½) successfully defended the Australian version of the title when he was awarded the referee’s decision immediately following the final bell. It had been a boring affair, with Smith picking up the points with left-hand work and King doing very little until he began to force the action from the 15th round. Although King showed up well from thereon, he was unable to cut the deficit enough and lacked the power to finish matters as Smith rested on his laurels.
