1915-02-22 (142lbs) [[Harry Stone]] nd-l pts 10 [[Lockport Jimmy Duffy]], Broadway Auditorium, Buffalo, New York, USA. Referee: Dick Nugent. With both men inside 136lbs, Stone’s 142lbs title claim was technically at stake regardless of the fact that there was nothing in the ''Buffalo News'' to suggest that he was a championship claimant. Stone quickly realised that he was up against a tartar as Duffy was after him like a cyclone, brushing away his punches almost contemptuously from the second round onwards. Round after round Stone was backed up against the ropes with nowhere to go and in the sixth a cracking right uppercut almost had him out. According to the newspaper report there was not a session where Stone had even a share and he somehow got through the fight by staying on the back foot and covering up as Duffy worked away non-stop.
