Line 1: Line 1:
1915-02-23 Jack Dillon nd-w pts 10 Johnny Howard, Broadway SC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA - USA. With the championship up for grabs Dillon (175) was forced to make a strong run for home after Howard (162½) had taken the opening five rounds, having scored at the rate of two to one. After dropping Howard with a right to the jaw in the seventh Dillon continued to pound his man incessantly until the final bell. Had the fight lasted any longer it is doubtful as to whether Howard would have remained upright, so badly was he being beaten. On 6 April, Dillon took on Billy Murray (nd-w pts 10 at The Arena, Hudson, Wisconsin) and with both men inside 160lbs, once again this would have involved both of Dillon’s title claims.
