1915-04-24 (145lbs) Kid Graves nd-w pts 10 Harry Stone, Irving AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. With the ringside weigh-in set at 145lbs, and both men aspiring to be the welterweight champion, Graves (144) easily held on to his title claim at the weight according to the press reports. Graves had at least six rounds in his favour over Stone (136), who failed to offer a threat and only showed in two sessions.

On 28 May, Stone was deemed by the press to have defeated Johnny Reese (nd-w pts 10 at the Vanderbilt AC, Brooklyn). In what was a lightweight contest, both men scaling 134lbs, Reese had stepped in at short notice for Walter Mohr.

Without weights being available, it is unclear at this moment as to whether Stone’s contest against Kid Burns (nd-w pts 10 on 11 June at Brown’s Gym, Queens, NYC) involved his title claim. However, as the latter could make 140lbs with ease we should assume that it did.
