1915-05-04 (158lbs) Al McCoy nd-l pts 10 Jimmy Clabby, Broadway AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Defending their 158lbs title claims both men were inside the championship limit. Although somewhat confused by McCoy’s awkward style, Clabby (154¾) was far too skilful for the New Yorker when winning virtually every round, his educated left hand landing almost at will. With McCoy (157¾) looking mainly to survive, while the contest showed up Clabby’s lack of power it also highlighted the fact that as soon as the former took on a reasonable opponent in a decision contest he would almost certainly lose his title claim.
