1915-05-22 (160lbs) Les Darcy w disq 2 (20) Jeff Smith, Baker’s Stadium, Sydney, Australia. Referee: Harold Baker. By the end of the opening round it had become clear that Smith (159) was going to drop the Australian version of the world 160lbs title to Darcy (159), who appeared to have too much power for him to handle. Having started fast, landing four punches to one, and hitting the American pretty much as he liked, Darcy was looking to put Smith away in the second, but before he could do too much further damage the latter head-butted him and followed it up with punch to the groin. Smith had obviously decided that he wanted out and he got his wish when immediately disqualified.
