1915-10-05 (118lbs) Kid Williams nd-w pts 10 Dutch Brandt, Lyric Opera House, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. According to the Baltimore Sun both men were inside 118lbs, thus making it a title fight. Although Brandt was on the defensive for much of the time he showed remarkable staying power, but despite always fighting back through the leather that continuously came his way he was unable to inflict any damage on the champion.

Williams next risked his championship claim over a shortened distance on 28 October, when he took on Memphis Pal Moore (nd-l pts 8 at the Phoenix AC, Memphis, Tennessee) at 118lbs ringside.
