1915-10-18 Joe Symonds w rtd 16 (20) Tancy Lee, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England - GB/IBU. Advertised as a battle for the British and European 112lb titles, Lee made a good start before becoming extremely weary by the halfway stage. Having been floored three times in the 16th round and with Symonds in full flow the towel was thrown in. By his victory, Symonds collected the Lonsdale Belt and also took over Lee’s world title claim.
