4 December (116lbs) Johnny Ertle nd-w rtd 3 (10) Young O’Leary, Clermont Rink, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. With both men inside 116lbs Ertle’s title claim at the weight was on the line and although it was a tough battle while it lasted O’Leary (116) gradually succumbed. Having sustained a broken nose in the third round it was clear that O’Leary could not fight on and he was retired on his stool during the interval, leaving Ertle (114¾) the winner.
