1915-12-10 (145lbs) Willie Moore nd-l pts 10 Steve Latzo, Vulcan Arena, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, USA. Billed for the Pennsylvanian 145lbs title, which automatically took in Moore’s American championship claim at the weight, Latzo should have taken over from the latter after having him down for an inexorably long count in the ninth round. Moore got up at ‘nine’ before surviving two further counts to make it to the final bell.

Moore was not given any credence as a claimant thereafter and any aspirations he may have had at welterweight were ended by Ted Kid Lewis, inside 145lbs, who exacted a crushing first-round defeat on him at the Palace AC, Bronx, NYC, New York on 19 March 1917.
