1916-02-15 (145lbs) Ted Kid Lewis nd-l pts 10 Jack Britton, Broadway AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. With the Englishman again risking his 145lbs title claim against Britton (143½) it was the latter who jabbed his way to the newspaper verdict when using his left at the expense of his right throughout. Looking stale, Lewis (141½) only came to life in the final session when he staged a grandstand finish, jabbing and belting Britton with both hands to the applause of the fans. Following this fight and having taken two press decisions off Lewis inside a month, the Sandusky Star reported that Britton was now claiming the title.
