1916-02-21 (142lbs) Ted Kid Lewis nd-l pts 10 Lockport Jimmy Duffy, Broadway Auditorium, Buffalo, New York, USA. Lewis (141) again held on to his title claim in New York despite losing the press decision against Duffy (142), who kept his man at bay with a stabbing left for much of the time. It was reckoned that Duffy won three rounds, Lewis one, with the rest even.

A few days later, on 24 February, Lewis (141½) travelled to St Louis, Missouri where he knocked out Harry Trendall (141) in the seventh round of a scheduled eight at the Future City AC show held in The Coliseum.
