1916-09-09 (160lbs) Les Darcy w pts 20 Jimmy Clabby, Baker’s Stadium, Sydney, Australia. Referee: Arthur Scott. In what would be Darcy’s penultimate defence of the Australian version of the world 160lbs title, Clabby (153¼) provided poor opposition, having already decided to survive come what may. The fight was one long display of clinching, in which Clabby negated much of the champion’s work, but the biggest disappointment to the crowd was that Darcy (159¼), although doing all the leading, did not have a ‘Plan B’. At the end of the contest, Clabby was so weak that he flopped to the floor, while Darcy was just glad to put it behind him.
