1916-10-17 Jack Dillon nd-w pts 10 Tim O'Neil, Broadway SC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA - USA. Sticking to the task at hand O’Neil (172) was still there at the final bell, having shown the ability to take a lot of punishment without folding. Although Dillon (173) repeatedly attempted to knock O’Neil out he ultimately had to be satisfied with the press verdict of eight rounds to two in his favour. O’Neil, who gained many friends despite hanging on for dear life at times, finished the contest bleeding profusely from a cut left eye. Prior to the start O’Neil had been confident of taking over Dillon’s claim at 175lbs but lacked a finishing punch.
