13 March (118lbs) Pete Herman nd-w pts 10 Dutch Brandt, Broadway AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. With both men inside 118lbs, this was another instance of Herman (117½) puting his title claim on the line in a no-decision affair. While Brandt (117½) was willing and able and went non-stop from gong to gong, Herman proved to be a master at covering up when he had to. He also worked Brandt’s midsection well and did enough to get the press verdict.

Another ten-round no-decision contest saw Herman, who failed to weigh in and was considered heavier than his rival, risk his title claim against the 117lbs Pekin Kid Herman (at the Riverview Pavilion, Peoria, Illinois) on 27 April. The press deemed the result to have been a draw.
