1917-03-26 (145lbs) Jack Britton nd-l pts 10 Ted Kid Lewis, Queen City AC, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. With the 145lbs title on the line, up until the eighth the contest had been fairly even, but Britton (145) had landed the cleaner blows and the left jab had gone especially well for him. Eventually opening up in the last three sessions Britton came on to repeatedly shake Lewis (144) up with solid jabs and right crosses to take a clear advantage and fully deserved the press decision in his favour.
