1918-05-17 (142lbs) [[Ted Kid Lewis]] w pts 20 [[Johnny Tillman]], The Arena, Denver, Colorado, USA. Referee: Billy Roche. Billed for the title, both men made 142lbs at the 3pm weigh-in, and by the 14th round Lewis was well in front as he continued to pull away. Then the fireworks started as Tillman came on strong and the pair fought viciously right through to final bell. It had been a tough fight, but Lewis well deserved the unanimous decision in his favour.
