23 May (118lbs) Pete Herman nd-w co 5 (10) Johnny Ertle, The Armory, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Billed for the 118lbs title, the first few rounds were uneventful before Herman (118) opened up in the fourth to drop Ertle (116½) with a right cross. Having been saved by the bell following another right cross after a few seconds of the fifth had ensued, Ertle was put down by another right hand and the count was a formality.

According to the Allentown Morning Call, on 10 June Herman met Terry McHugh (nd-w pts 10 at Mealey’s Auditorium, Allentown, Pennsylvania) in defence of the 118lbs world title. Regardless of the statement, there were no reported weights.
