1919-09-01 (158lbs) Mike O'Dowd nd-w pts 10 Ted Kid Lewis, The Arena, Syracuse, New York, USA. Made at 158lbs, the willing Lewis (145) found that giving 11 pounds away to O’Dowd (154) was just too much even though he did reasonably well. According to press reports it was probably fair to say that Lewis won one round, the fourth, and that the champion controlled the fight with his heavier, straighter hitting, while at close quarters his power proved conclusive despite a total lack of knockdowns.
