1920-04-15 (158lbs) Mike O'Dowd w rsc 6 (12) Walter Laurette, State Street Casino, Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. Referee: Dave Fitzgerald. This one was reported by the Bridgeport Evening Post to be a title fight. O’Dowd (155) was far too good for Laurette (153), dropping him twice in the opening round before easing off and letting the Canadian survive the next three sessions. Coming into the fifth with the intention of taking Laurette out, O’Dowd had great difficulty landing punches on a man covering up at all costs. In the sixth it was more of the same as O’Dowd hit Laurette everywhere but on the jaw, and with the latter merely a punchbag the referee called it off just as the bell terminated the round.
