1920-09-25 Benny Leonard nd-w pts 10 Pal Moran, Twin Cities SC Arena, East Chicago, Indiana, USA - WORLD. In a match made at the championship weight of 135lbs, Leonard (135) hit the outclassed Moran (130) with every punch in the book, round after round, without ever being able to floor his challenger. Moran, cut on the nose and mouth, absorbed all of Leonard’s blows and it was apparent that the champion had decided not to look for the kayo in order to concentrate on handing out a boxing lesson. In his next contest, Leonard beat Frankie Britt (w rsc 5 on 4 October at the Baseball Park, Hartford, Connecticut). Despite it being contracted above the weight class had Britt, who was inside 135lbs, won inside the distance it would almost certainly have gained him a crack at the title, if not a strong claim.
