1926-11-19 Tod Morgan w pts 15 Carl Duane, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - NY/CALIFORNIA/PENN. Referee: Lou Magnolia. Although losing the unanimous verdict the rugged Duane (129) was outboxed and outfought in eight of the 15 rounds, having weakened after five rounds when class told and left him floundering at the finish. Earlier, the challenger made a great fight of it when forcing the pace, but terrific rights under the heart weakened him and he was steadily worked over with straight left jabs and hooks. There were no knockdowns, but both men carried battle damage, Morgan (127½) being badly swollen on the left side of his face while Duane was cut over the right eye in the second round and bled heavily throughout from his nose and mouth.
