1927-12-19 Frenchy Belanger w pts 12 Ernie Jarvis, The Coliseum, Toronto, Canada - NBA. Referee: Lou Marsh. The final of the NBA elimination series, with the winner contracted to meet Frankie Genaro inside 60 days, saw Belanger (110), a two-fisted slugger, given the unanimous decision in an exciting fight. There was no real boxing, being toe-to-toe body punching from the start, with Belanger scoring the first knockdown in the opening round and repeating the dose in the third. Jarvis (111½), for his part, never backed down and fought a courageous battle, coming close to scoring a kayo in the 11th when Belanger, whose mouth was badly cut, walked on to a heavy blow to the jaw and was temporarily parted from his senses.
