1928-08-03 [[Izzy Schwartz]] w co 4 (15) [[Little Jeff Smith]], Playland Stadium, Rockaway, Queens, NYC, New York, USA - NY. Referee: Jack Dorman. Given a crack at the title, Little Jeff Smith (109½) failed to provide the champion with any real opposition and after the first flurry the crowd sensed it would be an early night for Schwartz (111). Bleeding badly from the mouth, his knees buckling every time he was hit and slipping over several times, Smith was down for ‘nine’ in the fourth following a hail of blows to the head. The end was not long in coming, and on getting up from a clip to the jaw Smith was counted out on the 0.46 mark.
