1930-05-29 Jack Kid Berg w rtd 4 (10) Al Delmont, Dreamland Park, Newark, New Jersey, USA - NBA. Referee: Gene Roman. Recognised as a championship fight by the New Jersey Boxing Commission, this was the first time that Berg (139) had defended his title claim on NBA territory, Delmont (136) being pretty much outclassed. Although Delmont had held the champion even in the first round he was dropped for a count of ‘nine’ in the second, and following an uneventful third it was obvious that Berg was looking to finish the job in the fourth. That was precisely what happened when Berg put his rival down twice before the corner threw the towel in with just five seconds of the session remaining.
