1930-06-25 Maxie Rosenbloom w pts 15 Jimmy Slattery, Bison Stadium, Buffalo, New York, USA - WORLD. Referee: Patsy Haley. In this, the sixth meeting between the pair, and a contest that would unify the title, Rosenbloom (170½) was wise to his rival’s moves and he slapped and cuffed Slattery (166½) around for the full 15 rounds, his speed being a deciding factor. However, although the verdict was split, Rosenbloom barely landed with the knuckle part of the glove and there was much dissent among the 15,000 crowd. Interestingly, while two judges voted for Rosenbloom, the referee, who had almost been knocked out by one of the latter’s wild swings, voted for Slattery.
